March Break road trip ideas across Canada

March Break (aka Spring Break or Easter Break) can be a time to kick back, relax, and catch up on some long-neglected chores around the house. OR, it can be a time to venture out with friends and family and see some of the beauty Canada has to offer. With the latter in mind, we’ve collected some of the premier Canadian destinations to visit during the break.

Toronto, Ontario

It’s the largest city in Canada and has plenty to offer entertainment-wise. For sports fans looking to catch some action, there are many options to choose from. Starting with the well-known Toronto Raptors and Toronto Maple Leafs to the lesser-known professional lacrosse team, the Toronto Rock – any night of the week can be a sports night in Toronto.

Toronto also has several great museums to visit. While in town, be sure to visit the Royal Ontario Museum, Art Gallery of Ontario, the Bata Shoe Museum, the Hockey Hall of Fame, among many others.

Tofino, British Columbia

For those closer to the West Coast, Tofino is a must-see. It’s the surfing capital of Canada, offering surfers the chance to ride some of the most spectacular waves in the north.

For those who wish to witness the power of the ocean but prefer to do so from the safety of shore, onlookers can revel at the 20-foot swells smashing the shoreline. March is the end of storm season in Tofino so be sure to check out these wondrous waves.[1]

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Halifax is the capital of Nova Scotia and is rich in culture and history. Be sure to visit Fisherman’s Cove – a 200-year-old fishing village that has been restored. Or explore the stories of more than 1 million immigrants who landed at Pier 21, kickstarting Canada’s multicultural fabric. For a more scenic experience, visit the Halifax Waterfront or the Halifax Public Gardens.[2]

Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick

It has fun right in the name! And rightfully so – there are plenty of great things to do at the Bay of Fundy. From wilderness camping and whale-watching excursions to rappelling down the cliffs at Cape Enrage and visiting the tide-tested flowerpot rocks, the Bay of Fundy has something for everyone.[3]

Niagara Falls, Ontario

Many consider Niagara Falls the Eighth Wonder of the World. One of the greatest natural marvels in Canada, over 2 million litres of water travel over the Falls per second,[4] creating a sensational spectacle. This awe-inspiring attraction is a favourite of ours and a popular destination for families.
